Chronic pain is generally considered by most research to be pain which is ongoing and lasting for more than 3 months. For the sufferer, chronic pain is debilitating, frustrating and real. The causes are seemingly unclear according to research.
It may lead to other conditions such as fatigue, depression, anxiety and delirium to name a few. Chronic pain is often associated with stigma among society due to its misunderstandings.
Pain is different for everyone who experiences it. Whether it be identical to a diagnosis and/or scan picture of other people in the population, individual pain sensations will all differ and sometimes remarkably. In stating this; the type of treatment and its effectiveness will also differ among those people.
There is no magic ‘one fixes all’ treatment, and research into every modality is advised.
Remedial Massage can help alone or in conjunction with other methods of treatment.
The musculoskeletal system and its association with chronic pain….
Bones and muscle tissue will always contribute a massive amount of energy to help PROTECT the rest of the body against pain. Muscles, ligaments and tendons will 'hold up a sheild’ to guard against further injury or pain. Because of this, they are under enormous tension and stress.
Massage can help to unlock the tension gateway of the musculoskeletal tissues by nourishing them with blood flow and endorphins, in-turn rebooting the whole body to begin to function as it should.

Kerrie.
